History

Axbridge Earth Hour concerts are part of a worldwide movement. Earth Hour is the single, largest, symbolic mass participation event in the world, born out of a hope that it would be possible to mobilise people to take action on climate change. The inaugural Earth Hour was held in Sydney, Australia on 31 March 2007 with 2.2 million people of Sydney and 2,100 businesses participating. Earth Hour now inspires a global community of millions of people in over 7,000 cities and towns across 162 countries and territories to switch lights off for an hour as a massive show of concern for the environment. The Axbridge Earth Hour concert 2017

For this year's Axbridge concert we have so far invited four musical groups / individuals who have provided successful audition recordings. All the music selected so far is from the Baroque and Classical periods and has been chosen to suit the particular sounds of the various ensembles, which include saxophones, clarinets, flutes and a harp. The public website contains short samples from the performers' audition recordings. When you purchase a ticket, it will include a special web address which will allow you to access to the full set of successful audition recordings.
